A collision detecting apparatus (1) is provided which consists of a rotor (3) and a first (7) and a second (8) contact spring. Upon collision, the rotor pushes the first contact spring to establish an electrical contact with the second contact spring. At least one of the first and second contact member is decreased in width from a base portion secured on a mount base to a contact portion, thereby decreasing the weight of the contact portion to avoid the contact chatter. <IMAGE>
