PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a quartz pipe having little dislocation of the center, a uniform thickness and lower surface roughness of the inner face. SOLUTION: In the method for producing a quartz pipe by softening a quartz- base glass rod 1 by heating, and piercing a hole in the central part of the rod by making a plug 3 intrude into the rod in the lengthwise direction, when the hole is pierced, the glass rod 1 and the plug 3 are rotated in the same direction at different rotational speeds.
