PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize stable recording operation by loading a disk in the state of a minimum ATIP error rate about the disk. SOLUTION: After loading the disk, the position of a turntable is confirmed and a disk motor is started (S1 and S2). The ATIP error rate is measured and a measured value is displayed on a display means (S3 to S5). After this, the disk motor is stopped to stop the turntable at a primary position (S6 and S7). A contacting state of the disk and the turntable is released (S8). The disk motor is driven to a position revolved by 90°from a revolution position where the disk motor is stopped (S9). The disk is chucked and made to contact with the turntable again to measure the ATIP error rate (S10 and S11: NO). These operations are repeated through one revolution of the disk motor to obtain a position where the ATIP error rate is minimized. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
