PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas appliance using a light touch switch and showing excellent use-friendliness. SOLUTION: In a conventional gas appliance in which the functioning of a gas burner is controlled by a light touch switch, the switch mounted on a printed board may be spontaneously turned on by the warping of the printed board. In this case, it is confirmed and determined whether or not the switch is turned on after lapse of a given time from a condition that the switch is turned on, and if the switch is still on, fuel gas supply to the burner can be stopped. However, if a cook continues to push the switch until the burner is ignited at the time of igniting operation of the burner, the start or continuation of burning of the burner is unnecessarily stopped. The gas appliance is provided with a timer which functions when a switch 15 is pushed to start the burning of the gas burner and flame detecting means 6 provided near the burner detects the flame of the burner. If a switch ON state is retained after lapse of the given time from the start of count by the timer, fuel gas supply to the burner is stopped. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
