The shelving system has at least 2 vertical side supports (2) with vertical posts (4) at their outer ends, coupled together via at least one grid shelf support (3), lying in a horizontal plane, having cross struts (10) parallel to the side supports and longitudinal struts (11) at right angles to the latter. The front and rear ends of the shelf support are fitted with profiles (13) attached to the side supports, having holes (14) for reception of the ends of the cross struts, the outermost cross struts pressed against spring elements (15) within the profile which are clipped around the vertical posts of the side supports.
