Production of a tablet, especially a detergent tablet, with not less than 2 layers from particulate compositions (I) and (II) comprises: (a) placing (I) in a mold cavity in a tablet press; (b) pressing at a first pressure with a curved die to give a first layer with recess(es); (c) placing a (II) on the first layer; and (d) pressing at a second pressure with the die to form a second layer with surface recess(es), using measured amounts of (I) and (II). An independent claim is also included for multilayer tablets, especially detergent tablets, produced in this way.
