The present invention relates to a flat mirror assembly of approximate dimensions 100mm length x 50mm with x 5-7mm thickness. The assembly 10 comprises: a substantially planar mirror 12 illumination means 14 for emitting diffused light for illuminating a person spaced from the mirror along a line N normal thereto a flat battery or batteries 16 for powering the illumination means an electrical circuit 18 between the battery and the illumination means and a frame 20 for supporting the mirror, illumination means, power source and electrical circuit. The present invention also relates to a bag 100 having an anterior 102 in which items can be carried and a closure 104 for closing the interior space portion, illumination means 106 for illuminating the interior, a power source 108 for the illumination means and switch means 110 which may be responsive to said flap being opened thereby to activate said illumination means.
