PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing a useful substance accumulated in the cell of a microorganism at a low cost. SOLUTION: The method for the production of a useful substance comprises the culture of a microorganism accumulating the useful substance in the cell in a culture medium, the autolysis of the microorganism when the carbon source in the medium is completely consumed and the separation of the useful substance from the autolyzed microorganism liquid.
