<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner capable of enlarging the surface area for photocatalyst arranged within the inside of the air cleaner. <P>SOLUTION: The structure of this air cleaner 10 is described below. An ultraviolet lamp 14 is housed within a case 12 equipped with an air suction port 24 and an air discharge port 26. Within the range irradiated with ultraviolet ray generated from the ultraviolet lamp 14, photocatalyst carriers 18 are disposed. The photocatalyst carriers 18 are formed by attaching a number of first fibrous bodies 44 having their surfaces coated with a photocatalyst 42 on a base 50 surface in a nearly perpendicularly upright state thereto. The ultraviolet lamp 14 comprises an air-tight container 34 consisting of ultraviolet ray transmissible glass. The first fibrous bodies 44 with their surfaces coated with material to the photocatalyst 42 are attached on the outer surface of straight tubes 28, 28 of the air-tight container 34 in a nearly perpendicularly upright state relative to the outer surfaces of the straight tubes 28, 28. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
