PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolyte filling device in which there is no splash of the electrolyte at the filling of the electrolyte and the electrolyte can be filled after the lead plate of the positive electrode and the lead plate of the upper lid are jointed. SOLUTION: The electrolyte filling device 20 comprises an enclosed chamber part 1 that houses and encloses the battery 10 of which the upper lid 10b is connected and the electrolyte is not filled yet, an electrolyte storage part 2 that is arranged above the enclosed chamber part 1 and stores the electrolyte, an opening and shutting valve 3 that supplies and stops supplying the electrolyte to the enclosed chamber part 1, and a pipe 4 for communicating between the enclosed chamber part 1 and the electrolyte storage part 2. By making negative pressure the internal pressure of the battery 10 that is not filled with the electrolyte, the filling of the electrolyte is started from the electrolyte storage part 2 into the battery 10, and the electrolyte is dropped into the battery 10 by self-weight, then, by changing the internal pressure of the battery 10 into an intensified pressure, the electrolyte is penetrated inside the electrode plates group of the battery 10, and by filling the electrolyte intermittently, a prescribed quantity is filled.
