PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem, when an electric car starts while leaving the electromagnetic brake unreleased, the drag-slide of the brake is liable to occur at uphill start of the vehicle, and when the vehicle starts after the electromagnetic brake is released, the vehicle travels down on a ramp undesirably. SOLUTION: In Fig. (a), a directional speed lever is pulled down and reaches a point P2 where the direction speed lever is switched to a forward side from a neutral range, and in Fig. (b), after the lapse of a time t1 necessary for releasing the electromagnetic brake and a lapse of a time t2 necessary for cancelling a short-circuit brake, a control signal output is increased to 10% or higher (travel start level), to make the vehicle travel. During the time t1, the short- circuit brake is actuated as shown in Fig. (d), and during the time t2, the control signal output is maintained at 10% or higher (travel start level) as shown in Fig. (b), thus preventing the vehicle from going down on the ramp. As a result, the moving downward the brake is eliminated, and the vehicle is prevented from going down on the ramp. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
