PURPOSE: An embedded memory for a system on chip is provided to easily perform the design of the embedded memory through the minimum change of layout and to reduce the design time of the device employing the embedded memory. CONSTITUTION: An embedded memory for a system on chip includes a row decoder(33), a column decoder(32), a 128k sub cell array(31), a£m x n| multiplexor(34) and an input/output sense amplifier(35). In the embedded memory, the row decoder(33) and the column decoder(32) are placed in parallel at one side with respect to the sub cell array, the row decoder(33) decodes the row address and the column decoder(32) decodes the column address. The input/output width selection multiplexor(34) outputs the n size of data by the MUX control signal(mCn) when the minimum column address is outputted. And, the input/output sense amplifier block(35) senses the n size of data. The embedded memory determines the output width of the data by enabling or disabling the MUX control signal(mCn).
