<p>A battery charger and charge control system (10) charge series connected lithium-ion batteries (14) to a voltage in the range of about 4.1 volts and about 4.3 volts per battery (14) with a voltage input to the system (10) in the range of about 4.1 to about 4.5 volts per battery (14). Switching efficiencies associated with the system allow the charging and charge control circuitry (12) of the system (10) to be positioned within the battery housing (15). The charging and charge control circuitry (12) may amount onto a single circuit board (18). Moreover, the battery charger and charge control system (10) allows the lithium-ion batteries (14) to simultaneously charge and discharge.</p> |
