MICROWAVE ILLUMINATING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR THE SAME

PURPOSE: A microwave illuminating apparatus and a method for the same are provided to reduce a period for reactivating an electrodeless lamp by reactivating the electrodeless lamp during a cooling period of the electrodeless lamp. CONSTITUTION: A microwave illuminating apparatus includes a resonator(300), a waveguide(400), a variable high-voltage generation portion(500), a cooling portion(700), and a control portion(600). The resonator includes a magnetron(100) for generating microwaves and an electrodeless lamp(200) in order to convert the microwave energy to the light. The waveguide is used for guiding the microwaves of the magnetron to the resonator. The variable high-voltage generation portion boosts or drops the driving voltage applied to the magnetron in order to apply the boosted voltage or the dropped voltage to the magnetron. The cooling portion performs a cooling operation for the magnetron and the variable high-voltage generation portion. The control portion applies a high voltage to the magnetron, and controls the high-voltage generation portion and an operation of the cooling portion.
