PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the compactification of an apparatus and the reduction of cost by installing a cleaning means by which residual toner on an intermediate transfer body is effectively removed and also in which a coating agent having a toner filming preventive function is provided. SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 is provided with an intermediate transfer body 9 to which a tone image formed on latent image carrier 3 is transferred and a cleaning device 50 to remove the residual toner on the intermediate transfer body 9. A fur brush roller 51 to electrostatically remove the residual toner on the intermediate transfer body 9 and a bias roller 53 to apply bias voltage to the fur brush roller 51 are provided in the inside of the cleaning device 50, and also a coating agent 57 is provided in the cleaning device 50.
