<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost optical element capable of efficiently making light incident on a photo acceptance unit or a light guide or efficiently making light emergent from the photo acceptance unit or the light guide. <P>SOLUTION: The optical element comprises an Si semiconductor light guide 4 and an antireflection region 30, wherein the antireflection region 30 is formed in contact with an end face 32 forming the photo acceptance face (or emergent face) of the light guide 4. The antireflection region 30 adopts silicon as a first material and air as a second material and has a two-dimensional periodic structure in which prismatic bodies 31 comprising silicon as the first material and having a horizontal section shape of a regular triangle are periodically arranged. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
