OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical recording medium which can cope with a high speed overwrite recording and has excellent storage reliability and good repeated recording characteristics.

SOLUTION: In a phase changing recording medium which records information by phase transfer from a crystalline phase to non-crystalline phase by irradiating a light, the optical recording medium is characterized by satisfying the following conditions when a compositional equation of the recording layer is GeαGaβXγSbδTeε (wherein X is at least one element selected from the group of Dy, Mg and Ca and α, β, γ, δ and ε are each atomic % and α+β+γ+δ+ε=100). 0<α≤7, 0<β≤5, 0<γ≤5, 55≤δ≤75 and 15≤ε≤30.
