PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a failsafe processing suitable for an electronic control device for vehicle. SOLUTION: An engine ECU 10 comprises a control CPU 11 and a monitoring CPU 12. The control CPU 11 performs the failsafe processing for reducing an engine torque when an abnormality occurs in the electronic throttle control of a vehicle. The monitoring CPU 12 monitors the operation of the control CPU 11. The monitoring CPU 12 determines whether the failsafe processing by the control CPU 11 is performed normally or not. When the failsafe processing is determined to be abnormal, the monitoring CPU 12 continues the failsafe processing in place of the control CPU 11. Specifically, the monitoring CPU 12 resets the control CPU 11 repeatedly to forcibly stall the engine. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
