METHOD FOR PRODUCING PYRIMIDINYL ALCOHOL DERIVATIVE AND SYNTHETIC INTERMEDIATE THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a pyrimidinyl alcohol derivative, by which the pyrimidinyl alcohol derivative can be synthesized from an industrially available raw material in high efficiency and in a high yield. SOLUTION: This method for producing the pyrimidinyl alcohol derivative represented by general formula (2) (R is an alkoxymethyl) is characterized by catalytically hydrogenating a compound represented by general formula (1) (X is a halogen atom) in the presence of a catalyst and a basic substance. The new method for producing the pyrimidinyl alcohol derivative used as an important production intermediate for a difluoromethanesulfonanilide derivative exhibiting an excellent herbicidal effect is provided. Thereby, three positions of a halogen atom, a nitro group and a ketone group in the same system can be reduced in one process to obtain the pyrimidinyl alcohol derivative represented by general formula (2), and the objective compound can easily be produced in high efficiency and in a high yield in an extremely simply operation.
