PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sorting/array apparatus of articles which conveys articles having different appearances of rear and front surfaces in large amounts and sorts the same at every kind. SOLUTION: A used film unit 10 is conveyed by a conveyance conveyor 44 while facing the front or rear surface upward. Sorting parts 45 are plurally arranged on the conveyance conveyor 44 in the conveyance direction. The respective sorting parts 45 pick up the upper surface of the conveyed film unit by means of a first CCD camera 50, discriminates the kind in accordance with the picture data, thereafter, picks up the corresponding film unit 10, transfers the same to the conveyors 46 classified by the kinds and sorts the same. When the kind can not be discriminated in accordance with the upper surface picture data, the film unit 10 is moved to a second pickup position after the pickup of the film unit 10, thereon, the lower surface of the film unit 10 is picked up by a second CCD camera 60 and the kind is discriminated in accordance with the lower surface picture data.
