THERMOPHILIC ENDOGLUCANASE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an industrially readily usable thermophilic endoglucanase.

SOLUTION: A polypeptide has thermophilic endoglucanase activity. An isolated DNA contains a nucleotide sequence encoding the polypeptide. A recombinant DNA contains the DNA. An expression vector contains the DNA. A transformant is transformed by the expression vector. A method for producing the polypeptide comprises using the transformant. The formed endoglucanase exhibits the maximum activity in a high-temperature range of about 97°C and is industrially advantageously useful.
