PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain trouble generation derived from the residual amount insufficiency of the image recording medium by using an image recording medium capable of certainly confirming the residual amount. SOLUTION: An IC chip 40 for storing the residual amount data representing the residual amount of a paper 2 wound around on a winding part 2a is mounted on a drum 3 for supporting the winding part 2a for the paper 2. A printing operation is started for the image only in the case the residual amount of the paper 2 is judged to be longer than the length of the image based on the data stored in the IC chip 40. Furthermore, the residual data stored in the IC chip 40 are updated corresponding to the residual amount of the paper 2 at the time of finishing the image printing operation each time an image printing operation is executed.
