<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus having structure capable of solving problems in terms of quality and functions associated with the opening/closing of a cover and preventing the occurrence of malfunction caused by the operation of the cover. <P>SOLUTION: When a left cover 1 is to be closed in a state where an inner lever 31 is released, the tip of the lever 31 abuts on a pawl part 27 so as not to lock the cover 1.
