PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an address setting device and an address setting method enabling to set an address according to a desired order, or enabling to add or change the address easily. SOLUTION: An interior unit 20 is provided with an input side connection part 28 and an output side connection part 29 which are detachably formed for being connected with a communication line 30, and an active plug inserting/ pulling-out detection means 24 detecting inserting/pulling-out of an active plug. A control means 22 of the interior unit is provided with an address demand section 22c demanding an address setting when detecting inserting/pulling-out of the active plug, and an address receive section 22d receiving the set address. A control means 12 of an exterior unit 10 is provided with a mode setting section 12c starting an address setting mode, an idle number management part 13a performing retrieval and registration management of an idle number, a request reception part 13b receiving an address setting request, an address setting part 13c setting an address, and an address response part 13d receiving the address and sending a reply.
