摘要 An X-ray fluorescence device and method are disclosed. The device (600) includes a source block (610) containing an X-ray source (650), a substantially X-ray transparent fluid flow path (620) through the source block (610) and proximate the X-ray source (650), and an X-ray detector (640) separated from the X-ray source (650) by the source block (610). First (622) and second (642) openings are provided in the source block (610) between the X-ray source (650) and the flow path (620) and between the flow path (620) and the detector (640) respectively. In operation, source X-rays pass through the first opening (622) and through the flow path (620). A portion of the source X-rays interact with a fluid in the flow path to create a fluid fluorescence response. The remainder of the source X-rays pass into a noise reduction cavity (612) of the source block. The detector (640) receives the portion of the fluid fluorescence response passing through the second opening (642) and produces an output indicative of the presence and amount of selected components in the fluid.
