<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce maintenance work of a responder installed on the ground side of a transponder using microwaves. <P>SOLUTION: A transponder maintenance device is provided with a speed generator 12 for detecting speed of a vehicle 2 for maintenance and an evaluation device 13 for maintenance for inputting a received signal from an interrogator 11 based on response waves transmitted from the responder 3 and speed information and measuring a travel distance, the number of data frames, and communication time to evaluate whether these measured values satisfy these performances specified in the responder 3 or not.
