摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the reduction of contrast. SOLUTION: When voltage is impressed to first electrodes 3a, 3b, the directors (major axes) of liquid crystal molecules are aligned to an electric field direction Z, so that light is transmitted. When voltage is applied a second electrodes 4a, 4b and third electrodes 5a, 5b, the directors of the liquid crystal molecules are oriented in an electric field direction Y in the vicinity of the second electrodes 4a, 4b and oriented in an electric field direction X in the vicinity of the third electrodes 5a, 5b. Since two kinds of director directions are mixed in the same pixel, scattering efficiency is increased.
