PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for processing a document are provided to limit a use range according to a grade of a user, thereby minimizing the cost for maintaining and repairing, and managing an apparatus for processing a document, and processing the document in real time. CONSTITUTION: It is judged whether a documents is sensed(10). If so, a user providing the document is requested to input user identifying information(12). It is judged whether the user identifying information received from the user is registered identifying information(14). If not, it is reported that the document is impossible to be processed(16). If so, the document is processed(18). The used particulars of the user is recorded with the registered identifying information(20).
