The invention relates to registration characters for license plates, punches and matrices for the production thereof, and the license plate obtained thereby. The characters are obtained by embossing the plate by means of sets of punches and matrices corresponding to the shape of each character. Said characters appear in the color of the embossed base plate when the thin surface plate has been punched out. At least one part (1) of the inventive characters, particularly a closed portion thereof or an isle, such as the central part of the letter O, is formed by at least one continuous opening line (5) which is essentially transversal to the outline (3) of said part and thin enough so as not to render the respective characters less legible. |
