PURPOSE: A color cosmetic composition containing natural mud as a main component, together with colorants and/or pigments is provided which has good skin-protecting effect and enhanced ease of washoff without causing damage to the skin. CONSTITUTION: Natural mud is washed and strained, the procedure is repeated several times and then the separated mud is dried, powdered and sterilized. Thus obtained mud powder is blended with colorants and/or pigments to produce a color cosmetic composition for painting the body. The color cosmetic composition is optionally added with purified water, an oil base such as ester-based oils or natural oils, astringents, humectants, fragrances or the like.
