摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust a focus offset and a spherical aberration correcting system in a highly precise manner. <P>SOLUTION: In the optical disk device, an information recorded surface of an optical disk is irradiated by optical beams through an objective lens and the information on the surface is reproduced. An adjusting method is provided to optimize the mechanism which adjusts a focus offset and a spherical aberration correcting mechanism which is used to correct spherical aberration generated in the light beams that irradiate the information recorded surface. Characteristics of the reproduced signals of the information on the surface are measured when the focus offset is varied within a prescribed range. The optimization of the adjustment is conducted based on the detection information obtained by detecting symmetry of the characteristics curve of the reproduced signals. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
