The shaft (3) of the impeller (2) and the electric motor (5) is arranged vertically and the diffuser (14) is helicoidal and co-axial to the impeller shaft and electric motor, with the impeller and the diffuser remaining entirely below the highest level (A) of the suction chamber (6), so that the diffuser provides centrifugal expulsion of the impelled water according to a helicoidal path (26) and, when the bath is filled with water and the water level exceeds said highest level of the suction chamber, the impeller (2) is completely submerged in water, resulting in the automatic priming of the pump. The helicoidal diffuser (14) is made up of an essentially plate-shaped part, which is fitted with an inlet aperture (17) that connects with the suction chamber (6) and with an outlet aperture (18) that links with the impulsion mouth (7), the inner wall of the helicoidal diffuser having a helicoidal ramp-shaped protrusion (19), adapted for expelling the impelled water according to a helicoidal path (26).
