PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thick single layer sleeve roll which is provided with high strength on the inside and with excellent wear resistance on the outside by performing process improvement (mainly heat treatment) as well as material improvement (in componential ranges). SOLUTION: The sleeve roll has a composition containing, by weight, 0.8 to 2.0% C, 0.2 to 2.0% Si, 0.2 to 2.0% Mn,≤2.5% Ni, 3.0 to 8.0% Cr, 2×Mo+W: 2.0 to 8.0%, and 2.0 to 7.0% V; wherein, 0%≤C-0.25×V≤0.75%, and the balance substantially Fe. The outside hardness of the roll is≥70 Hs, and also, the tensile strength on the inside of the roll is≥600 MPa. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
