PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a temporary padding cloth for sewing, capable of easily performing a marking of stitches or dart-processing in sewing, and easily being removed after using it by attaching to a cloth to be sewn, and a method for sewing by using the same. SOLUTION: This temporary padding cloth 1 for sewing is equipped with a supporting sheet 2 constituted by a fibrous material and a thermoplastic resin layer 3 laminated and adhered to the one side surface of the supporting sheet 2. The surface density of the supporting sheet is 5-40 g/m<SP>2</SP>, and the tensile strength of the temporary padding cloth 1 for sewing in at least one direction is≤180 cN by a single tongue method. The method for sewing by using the temporary padding cloth 1 for sewing is provided by firstly adhering the thermoplastic resin layer 3 placed as inside with the cloth 4, then sewing the cloth 4 adhered with the temporary padding cloth 1 for sewing as a desired form, and then peeling off the temporary padding cloth 1 for sewing from the sewn cloth 4.
