PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a kind of asymmetric benzoxanthene dye useful as a fluorescent dye. SOLUTION: The asymmetric benzoxanthene dye compound has a structure shown in the following formula, [wherein Y<SB>1</SB>and Y<SB>2</SB>are each independently hydroxy, oxygen, iminium or amine, R<SB>1</SB>to R<SB>8</SB>are each independently hydrogen, fluorine, chlorine, a lower alkyl, lower alkene, lower alkyne, sulfonate, amino, ammonium, amide, nitril, alkoxy, linking group or a combination of them and R<SB>9</SB>is acetylene, an alkane, alkene, cyano, substituted phenyl or a combination of them, and the substituted phenyl has a structure shown in the following formula (wherein X<SB>1</SB>is a carboxylic acid or a sulfonic acid, and X<SB>2</SB>and X<SB>5</SB>are each independently, hydrogen, chlorine, fluorine, chlorine or a lower alkyl, X<SB>3</SB>and X<SB>4</SB>are each independently hydrogen, chlorine, fluorine, a lower alkyl, carboxylic acid, sulfonic acid or linking group)].
