PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease a film thickness unstable part produced in the start-up and the stoppage of coating to the utmost in the frame coating of a paste by using a die coater. SOLUTION: In the coating method for forming a coating film on a base board by supplying the paste from a tank to a die head 10 by using a fixed delivery pump and discharging the paste from the tip of a slit of the die head 10, the paste is applied on the base board from the die head 10 by moving the base board G and the moving speed of the base board G is changed with the change of the pressure in the die head during the coating. When the internal pressure of the die head is small and the coating quantity is decreased, the base board G is moved slowly, and when the internal pressure is large and the coating quantity is increased, the base board G is moved at a high speed. As a result, the film thickness unstable part produced in the start-up and the stoppage of the coating is decreased to the utmost and a coating film having stable film thickness is formed.
