PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display improving bonding power of a panel and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to maximize a contact area between a sealant and an inorganic passivation layer while minimizing a contact area between the sealant and an organic passivation layer. CONSTITUTION: A substrate(103) is made up of a pixel area and a sealing area. Thin film transistors are formed at the pixel area. An inorganic passivation layer(139) and an organic passivation layer(137) are formed all over the substrate. The organic passivation layer accumulated on source and drain electrodes of the pixel area is completely removed. The organic passivation layer of the sealing area is partially removed to remain the organic passivation layer in predetermined thickness. Contact holes are formed by removing the inorganic passivation layer of the pixel area and the rest of the organic passivation layer of the sealing layer is removed to form apertures(162) exposing the inorganic passivation layer to the outside. A pixel electrode connecting to the source and drain electrodes through the contact holes is formed on the organic passivation layer of the pixel area. A sealant(122) is applied to the sealing area to fill the apertures with the sealant.
