PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic halide lamp having a high wattage and a color rendering index Ra exceeding 80. SOLUTION: Ionizable fillers for the metal halide lamp (10) having a ceramic discharge chamber (50) are mercury and halides (H) of sodium, thallium, an alkaline earth metal, and a rare earth element (RE) which has greater than 0% to less than 15% as the molar fraction of the halide fill.
