APPARATUS FOR WEB CUT-OFF IN A REWINDER

A web cut-off assembly 30 for a rewinder apparatus 12 includes a bedroll 32 having a pair of retractable bedroll blades 34, 35 that move to a protracted position to engage the web material 10 for a web cutting event. A chopper roll 44 is disposed proximate to the bedroll 32 and includes 52 a first blade and a second blade 56 extending from a circumference 46 thereof. The first and second blades 52, 56 rotationally intermeshing with the bedroll blades 34, 35 in the web cutting event. The second blade 56 is configured to effectively stretch and hold the web 10 relative to the bedroll blades 34, 35 as the first blade 52 severs the web 10 in the web cutting process.
