PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine starter device mitigating a shock due to the collision of a pinion gear and a ring rear, reducing the size, weight and cost thereof. SOLUTION: The engine starter device 1 includes a hook 34 attracted together with a plunger 32 in engine start, a shift lever 5 engaging with the hook 34 at one end thereof, and a pinion moving body 6 including a pinion gear part 61a pressed against a ring gear 7 side of an engine at the other end of the shift lever 5 and meshing with a ring gear 7 thereof. The engine starter device 1 has a tapered part 62b provided on at least a part of parts with which the hook 34, the shift lever 5 and the pinion moving body are brought into contact, respectively, 6 in engine start.
