The present invention discloses a method and circuit apparatus for frequency offset compensation in OFDM Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing communication system. By using peak value gained from correlation of matched filter, the exponent of phase error instead of the phase error caused by frequency offset is calculated. Then use the approximation of exp jnDELTAtheta n= -32, -31,…31,32 to compensate frequency offset. The present method has the feature that compensating error will not accumulated as time goes by, furthermore, it has the advantages that the calculating method is fast and the realizable circuit is simple.
