PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operation efficiency for an occupant at the front seat to stop running a rear seat air conditioning system without providing a new operating means in using an air conditioner for a vehicle, which separately air-conditions a front air-conditioning zone and a rear air-conditioning zone. SOLUTION: According to the air conditioner for the vehicle, when a front seat operational switch 5a is operated to stop running a front seat air- conditioning system 5 during the operation of the rear seat air-conditioning system 6, the rear seat air-conditioning system 6 also stops running. At the same time, when the front seat operational switch 5a is operated to start running the front seat air-conditioning system 5 during the halt of the rear seat air-conditioning system 6, the rear seat air-conditioning system 6 is kept stopped. Thus, in saving the power of the air conditioner by stop running the rear air- conditioning system 6, the occupant at the front seat can always stop running the rear seat air-conditioning system 6 by operating the front seat operational switch 5a to stop running the front seat air-conditioning system 5.
