PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an occupant protecting device for a vehicle allowing optimal occupant protection without delay in response to the degree of an impact force in collision generated in the collision of a vehicle. SOLUTION: Before the collision occurs actually, data related to the impact force in collision are sampled from a collision expected object (S200), and an operation mode of the occupant protecting device such as an air bag is selected based on the data (S206).
