<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display element (LCD) improved in display quality by preventing an abnormal light leakage phenomenon due to ions contained in a liquid crystal layer from occurring. <P>SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display element including an array substrate including gate lines and data lines orthogonal to each other, TFTs at the crossing parts thereof, and pixel electrodes in the pixel areas defined by the gate lines and the data lines; a color filter substrate including color filters stuck to the array substrate and provided correspondingly to the pixel areas, a black matrix provided correspondingly to the pixel boundary parts, and relative electrodes on the front surface including the color filters and the black matrix; and a liquid crystal layer consisting of a plurality of liquid crystal molecules held between the array substrate and the color filter substrate, the pixel electrodes are rectangular as a whole, and are provided with a plurality of acute tips on the edges. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
