<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to reset altered target value while reducing adverse effect on printing productivity and image quality to the lowest degree possible, in an image forming device that adjusts a target value for an image forming conditions, such as development potential, according to the toner concentration of developer. <P>SOLUTION: Threshold values 104a and b for defining a range (reset allowable range) within which the reset of a target value is allowed is set only specific density inside from threshold values 102a and b indicating the range of the alteration of a target value for preventing a critical image quality defect. When the toner concentration in a developing unit is altered beyond a target value exceeding the threshold values 102a and b, the reset of the altered target value is inhibited until the toner concentration returns to the reset allowable range. This manner prevents or reduces trouble such as altering the target value of the toner concentration beyond the threshold values 102a and b immediately after the reset. There are cases where it takes long time to alter the target value. Decreasing such cases prevents a productivity decrease. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
