PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing high quality adamantane alcohols whose high-qualities have not been achieved satisfactorily by previous methods. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the adamantane alcohols by hydrolyzing bromoadamantanes, the reactions are carried out, in the presence of 0.1 mol% to 200 mol% of an aliphatic tertiary amine and/or its salt, based on the bromine atoms of the bromoadamantanes, and at temperatures of 100°C to 170°C.
