PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure durability of an inverter circuit by increasing a rising current supplied to an AC motor only if there is a need to increase the speed and responsiveness of cargo handling work. SOLUTION: A cargo handling vehicle comprises hydraulic cylinders 12 operated with an operating lever 11 arranged on the vehicle 2, a pump 18 for generating pressure oil for driving the hydraulic cylinders, the AC motor 17 for driving the pump, a control unit 20 having the inverter circuit 19 for controlling a current applied to the AC motor, and a lever sensor 21 for detecting an operating speed of the operating lever. If the operating speed of the operating lever detected by the lever sensor is equal to or higher than a set point, the control unit increases a rising current supplied by the inverter circuit.
