<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical circuit device which permits the integration of Faraday rotators together with semiconductor lasers, etc., onto the same compound semiconductor and a method of manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The optical circuit device has a substrate 10 which consists of a group III-V compound semiconductor and a magnetic semiconductor layer 14 which is formed on the substrate, is nearly lattice matched with the substrate and has a crystalline structure of a chalcopyrite type. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO</p> |
