PURPOSE: A method for automatically recognizing a unit change of a recorded medium is provided to enable a system and a software block to automatically recognize that a unit of the recorded medium is changed, thereby operating without a command of changing the unit by an operator. CONSTITUTION: An access path of a unit of a recorded medium is set(S501), and a flag variable is set(S502). If the recorded medium unit is changed(S503), the recorded medium unit transmits a state message to a recorded medium state management block(S504). The state management block confirms flag information of the state message, and confirms whether the flag information is a negative number of a positive number(S505,S506). If a flag is the positive number, the management block compares the flag with a previous unit type(S507). If the flag is not the previous unit type, the block changes a type of the unit(S508). The block checks a state change of the recorded medium(S509), and checks state changes of all devices(S510).
