PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cover for a lantern allowing a transparent plate to be simply and detachably replaced in front of a tomb without using a tool such as a screw driver for attaching and detaching the transparent plate, capable of surely stopping the intrusion of wind and rain with the cover of the lantern surely kept closed to keep the inside from being contaminated, and allowing a candle to be disposed in the lantern. SOLUTION: This cover 10 for a lantern comprises: a cover part 11; a cover opening 12 formed in the center of the cover part 11; a swinging door 13 formed into a size almost equal to or slightly larger than that of the cover opening 12 and formed so as to make one side part swingable at an edge part of the cover opening 12 through rotative parts 14; a swinging door opening 15 formed in the center of the swinging door 13; the transparent plate 16 disposed inside the swinging door 13 by covering the opening 15; a transparent plate pressing part 17 mounted at the upper edge part of the swinging door 13 for elastically pressing and fixing the upper end of the transparent plate 16; and transparent plate lower part locking parts 18 mounted at the lower edge part of the swinging door 13 for locking the lower end of the transparent plate 16.
